Starting pitcher Vicente Tejeda was a major factor in the 3-1 Lansing Red Storm triumph over the Kyiv Cossacks. Tejeda picked up the win for Lansing, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. Jeff Pledger collected save number 2.
Pete Batley contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the first. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run. His at-bat helped Lansing get the win.
In postgame comments to the Lansing Daily, Batley said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Lansing is now 2-6.
