|
Chris Newell, who finished 3rd in the FL in wins with 17 in 2048, never let the Desert Storm get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Hyenas to a win, 5-1. East Haddam reliever Jason Derrick snagged the win, upping his record to 1-1. Trenton Peterson shouldered the loss. So far, the 2051 season has been disappointing for Arizona, now 3-7.
East Haddam took a 3-1 lead on Mike Sizemore's 3rd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Sizemore hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Arizona pitcher Trenton Peterson visibly frustrated.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Newell.
