The inspired effort of Kyiv first baseman Kelvin William was not enough to prevent a loss, 9-8, to the Dublin Porters. William was 4 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Peter Thompson came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Kyiv pitcher Cheong-won Hwang, he hit a 0-1 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Dublin on top, 9-8.

"Our team showed some gumption," said Thompson. "I like it."
