The Detroit Pizzas topped the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs, 5-4, with left fielder John Herndon playing a big role. Herndon was 2-5 with 2 singles, while scoring 2 times for the Pizzas in the win. Reliever George Liston picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Derrick Bergdahl took the loss. Detroit, now 8-4, has gotten their season off to a good start.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Herndon hit a fastball from Derrick Bergdahl for a run-scoring single. The Pizzas, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"I was a little disappointed," said Sudbury manager Coach John. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
