Deere Lifts Blueberry Bulldogs to 2-1 Triumph
|
Sudbury pitcher Josh Deere had a large part in his team subduing the Brooklyn Knights, 2-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Deere yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 7. His record improves to 2-1. With their winning streak at 5, the Blueberry Bulldogs have raced to a strong start this season.
Sudbury used a well-timed hit by Andy Neufeld to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Blueberry Bulldogs ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It was a solid team effort," said Deere after the game.
