Great Stroke: Kesterton Gets 5 Hits
Monday, May 18th , 2048
Colorado Springs catcher Kane Kesterton had a fantastic day at the plate at Ducks Ballpark, knocking out 5 hits and pacing his club to a win, 13-9.
"It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Kesterton said after his 5-for-6 performance against the Ducks. "No offense meant to Long Island, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid park, it was Ducks Ballpark."
After the game, his manager elaborated on the catcher's improvements, saying Kesterton spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball.
"That's what I'm trying to do," Kesterton said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
Kane Kesterton singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and struck out in the 9th.
Looking at his season stats, Kesterton has compiled a .325 batting average and a .435 on-base percentage, while hitting 1 home run and driving in 13 runs.
