Season May Be Over for Better Mades Nakamoto

Grosse Pointe starting pitcher Chikara Nakamoto could miss the remainder of the season because of shoulder inflammation. He exited yesterday's Rhome game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Nakamoto would be out 5 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."
This season, Nakamoto has worked 54.1 innings with 34 strikeouts en route to a 3-1 record and a 2.48 ERA.

Vespa Cracks 5 Hits

It was a sensational day at the plate for Brian Vespa as he led the charge to a nifty 9-5 win over the Better Mades. The Rhome second baseman was pure misery for the Grosse Pointe pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
"Vespa put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Gary McGraw, manager for the Better Mades, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Brian Vespa singled in the 1st, was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Carlos Almendarez in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 10th.
For the year, Vespa is batting .364 with 52 hits and 6 home runs. He has scored 16 times and driven in 14.

Ducks Listless in 9-0 Loss to Cobras

Can Tho Cobras starter Matt Poole tamed the Long Island Ducks, 9-0, on 3 hits, finishing the game with 11 strikeouts and no walks in a sharp outing.
"I enjoy facing a team like that where I can get an out on one, two or three pitches," Poole said. "It gives me a chance to be a lot more aggressive."
For the season, Poole has compiled a 7-2 record with a 1.36 ERA.
