Grosse Pointe Snaps Morel Streak at 21
Friday, July 8th , 2050
Sheboygan right fielder Pablo Morel came into today's game against the Grosse Pointe Better Mades on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Better Mades did their jobs well, beating the Sheboygan Bratwurst, 9-7, and holding Morel hitless to snap his 21-game hitting streak. The 18-year-old right fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-5, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Pablo did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Bratwurst manager Matt Minor. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 21 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
This season, Morel is hitting .361 with 78 hits, 8 home runs, 56 RBIs, scored 46 runs and played in 52 games.
