Cork Moves on to Round 2 Tuesday, September 8th , 2048 The Cork Claws "proved we can handle pressure" by beating the Round 1 and eliminating the Galveston Gumdrops, according to series MVP Jody Brown. "This is the big stage, we're off to the Round 2 and looking towards the Round 3," he said. "There's a lot of pressure at this time of year and it's only going to get more intense from here. But I think we can handle it just fine." Cork won the final game 10-5, to wrap up the series 4-2. Brown led his team to the series win by putting up a .529 average, with a .636 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 7 runs. The Cork Claws will play against the Corpus Christi Beach Boys in the next round.
