Rodriguez Goes 5-for-5
Monday, July 25th , 2050
The Long Island Ducks stopped the Can Tho Cobras by a score of 14-5 at Can Tho Park, with the lion's share of the credit going to shortstop Juan Rodriguez. The 18-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Rodriguez said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Rodriguez did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Cobras.
"Not much that I can say," offered Can Tho manager Esteve Varanda. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Juan Rodriguez singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, walked in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 9th.
Rodriguez is hitting .332 this year with 2 home runs, 61 RBIs and 46 runs scored. He has 91 hits in 274 at-bats, 39 walks and a .417 on-base percentage. Rodriguez has played in 73 games.
