Super Swinger -- Maldonado Slams 5 Hits
Tuesday, July 11th , 2051
Today at Prairie Thunder Park, Eddie Maldonado put on an impressive display.
The Louisville Prairie Thunder left fielder tagged Laredo pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Laredo Diamonds by the score of 6-4.
"The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Maldonado said. "5-for-5 ain't bad in any league."
Despite the terrific performance, the Prairie Thunder manager was unwilling to offer the left fielder much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses.
"Eddie told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Malik Stovall said.
Eddie Maldonado hit a two-run home run off Manuel Blanco in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
On the year, Maldonado has hit .341 with 13 home runs, 43 RBIs and scored 28 runs.
