Empire Get 6-2 Win Versus San Antonio
|
The New York Empire got a stellar performance from pitcher Brian Collins, who handcuffed the San Antonio offense en route to a win, 6-2, at Estadio Azteca. In 6 innings, Collins surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 6. He allowed 2 runs. San Antonio is now 12-9.
New York used a well-timed hit by Bobby Latino to capture the win. The catcher socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Empire ahead, 6-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Let's just say I'm happy we won," said Collins. "There are a lot of people in the clubhouse who like to whine too much when we lose."
