Loss to Hyenas Extends New York Losing Streak
|
The East Haddam Hyenas picked up a win at Ballpark of East Haddam, knocking off the New York Empire, 7-4. On the mound for East Haddam was right-hander Sergio Nunez, who played a pivotal role in the win. Nunez, now 10-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 13, walking 3, and allowing 4 runs. The second-place Hyenas have won 4 in a row.
The Hyenas got an important contribution from first baseman Steve Pinson, who in the bottom of the third knocked a full count curveball into right for a 2-run double. It was his 27th double of the season and put the Hyenas ahead, 4-1.
"Another day, another win. On to the next one," Pinson told the East Haddam Observer.
