Chesterfield Shuts Out Hartford Behind Umphrey, 5-0
|
A favor to his bullpen. That's what Kyle Umphrey was doing at Queens Ballpark today as he blanked the Hartford Defenders in a 9-inning complete game shutout.
"I went out there to try to eat up innings and help out our bullpen," the Chesterfield Queens left-hander said later. "I felt I had my good stuff, and it turned out my command was solid."
Umphrey notched 6 strikeouts, surrendered 1 walk, allowed 3 hits, and kept the bullpen phone quiet all day long.
