Blueberry Bulldogs Lose Big to Archies, 12-2
|
Boosted by the 4-hit performance of Danny Cuello, who finished 4th in the FL in triples with 5 last year, the St. Louis Archies defeated the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs, 12-2. St. Louis pitcher Spencer Hay got the win. He's now 7-2. Siu-chung Chieu was tagged with the loss. The triumph puts St. Louis at 28-16 for the season.
Alex Garcia had a big 2-run home run for the Archies in the bottom of the third inning. With St. Louis leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a slider from Siu-chung Chieu, who is a six-time All-Star, and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 8th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Archies ahead, 3-0.
"We'll need a much better effort, the next time out," said losing manager Lord Parquad.
