Detroit starter Phil Beard pitched well against the St. Louis Archies at Team2 Ballpark. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-4. With the win, Detroit pushed its record to 70-44.

Detroit used a well-timed hit by Luis Garcia to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Pizzas ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"It was a solid team effort," said Garcia after the game.
