The Detroit Pizzas and St. Louis Archies played an entertaining game for Team2 Ballpark patrons.

The Detroit Pizzas did just enough to sneak past the St. Louis Archies, 4-3, at Team2 Ballpark. Detroit pitcher John Hoover, in particular, had a standout performance. In 6 innings, Hoover surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Satoharu Sato closed the game out for Detroit, earning his 5th save.

Detroit used a clutch at-bat from Mike Deaner to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Pizzas ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Felt great, felt really good," said Hoover.

The win puts Detroit at 71-45 this season.
