Lamons Lifts Beavers to 8-4 Win
|
Portland left fielder Matt Lamons was instrumental in helping the Beavers triumph, 8-4, over the Brooklyn Knights. Lamons went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Greg Lee, the winning pitcher, improved to 5-5. He pitched 8.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. The Beavers improved their record to 58-75 with the win over Brooklyn.
Portland used the hitting of Jimmy Murphy to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Beavers on top, 3-0. For the game, Murphy had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
Lamons told a Portland Gazette reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
