The Detroit Pizzas got a superb performance from designated hitter Mario Hernandez, but the Havana Sugar Kings still won the game, 9-8. Hernandez hit 3 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored three times. Havana pitcher Chad Edwards got the win. He's now 2-4. Josh Johnson was tagged with the loss. Havana is now 74-84, Detroit 85-73.

The decisive blow was delivered by Kevin Mars in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 3-run home run off 28-year old left-handed pitcher Josh Johnson to win the game for Havana. The home crowd went nuts.

"We ground out the win," said Mars. "That's all that matters."
