Mars Hits 2 home runs in Sugar Kings Win
|
The 3-1 Havana win over Hanoi was due in large part to Kevin Mars. The Sugar Kings third baseman was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Picking up his 42nd save was two-time All-Star Chad Edwards. The Sugar Kings, at 76-85, sit in last place in the Alliance League Boneheads Division.
With Havana trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Mars hit a fastball from Jon Gilson for a 2-run home run. It was his 30th home run of the season and put the Sugar Kings ahead, 2-1.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Havana manager The Baron said.
