Traverse City Cherries center fielder Manny Benaricles had a day to remember at Cherries Ballpark, ripping apart the Schenectady Grasshoppers and sparking the 14-2 Cherries win.

Benaricles wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5.

"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Benaricles told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."

Manny Benaricles singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Josh Juskiewicz in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
