3-HR Binge for Rodriquez Against Havana Saturday, May 4th , 2047 San Antonio Aztecs second baseman Victor Rodriquez sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Havana Sugar Kings, Rodriquez told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Rodriquez pushed the Aztecs past the Sugar Kings, 15-4. To go along with the homers, he collected 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Rodriquez told reporters after the game. Victor Rodriquez hit a two-run home run off Bobby Shockey in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Bobby Shockey in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Ricardo Moreno in the 7th and flied out in the 8th. This season, Rodriquez is swinging the bat at a .282 rate with 31 hits in 110 at-bats. To date he has hit 6 home runs, scored 14 runs and driven in 18. |
