Uhlig Pounds 3 HR Monday, April 8th , 2052 Hillsboro Hops center fielder Jeff Uhlig almost did it all. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 3 times and drove in 4 runs and had 4 hits in 5 at-bats. The one thing he could not do, however, was lead the Hops to victory. The Santa Clara Vanguard escaped with the win, 7-6, despite being on the receiving end of the barrage from Uhlig. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game. Jeff Uhlig hit a solo-shot off Brassal Bailey in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Brassal Bailey in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Brassal Bailey in the 4th, flied out in the 7th and singled in the 9th. "When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win," said Hillsboro manager Brian Hendrickson. "We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the CBD Double A. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good CBD Double A hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a good hack at it." So far in 2052 Uhlig is batting .565 with 4 home runs, 5 RBIs and 7 runs scored. He has 13 hits in 23 at-bats and a .583 OBP. |
