Thrice Is Nice: Wesley Unloads 3 Homers Wednesday, July 20th , 2050 San Jose Sabercats center fielder Jimmy Wesley put on a dazzling display of power at Amarillo Grounds against the Hillsboro Hops. In the 7-1 Sabercats victory, Wesley penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Hillsboro manager Ryan Muirhead said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 25-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Wesley said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Jimmy Wesley hit a solo-shot off Sandy Ramirez in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Sandy Ramirez in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Eric Abbott in the 8th. Thus far this season in 84 games, Wesley is batting .272 with 8 home runs, 37 RBIs and 28 runs scored. He has 88 hits in 324 at-bats. |
