Albuquerque's Hedinger Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
Saturday, June 25th , 2050
A jubilant John Hedinger joined the postgame press conference at Roadrunners Ballpark to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Traverse City Cherries pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Albuquerque Roadrunners left fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led to the 10-0 Roadrunners win.
"He made it look easy," said Matt Bronson, manager of the Cherries. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
John Hedinger singled in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
This year, Hedinger has hit at a .282 clip with 61 hits, 7 home runs, 42 RBIs and 30 runs scored.
