Pegoretti Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits
Saturday, July 2nd , 2050
Jon Pegoretti was at the head of a Qubec City Poutine hit parade at Poutine Ballpark. The 21-year-old went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Charleston Chews that marched off with the 16-12 win.
"We didn't have it today," griped Poutine skipper Willie Gutierrez following the game. "Jon did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching."
Pegoretti did more than fine, dominating the Chews at the plate during his record-making 5-for-6 performance.
"Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging left fielder told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."
Jon Pegoretti singled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
In his season totals, Pegoretti has 12 home runs, .317 BA, .407 OBP, 37 RBIs and 51 runs scored. He has played in 70 games.
