Montgomery Slams 5 Hits for Cork Tuesday, September 15th , 2048 After a 5-hit effort to lead Cork's 13-10 victory over the Corpus Christi Beach Boys, catcher Chris Montgomery told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the CBD Rookie League-level is really something special." The 19-year-old player earned his accolades at Beach Boys Ballpark with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Beach Boys. "His swing is getting there," said Claws skipper Bryce DeMont, who spoke glowingly of Montgomery after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Chris did that to perfection." Chris Montgomery singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and singled in the 10th.
