Melbourne Advances to Round 3 Thursday, September 17th , 2048 Melbourne first baseman Jeremy Shipley couldn't hide his reaction when asked about being named MVP of the Round 2. "It's a nice honor," he said, failing to suppress a wide smile. The trophy was presented to Shipley moments after his club eliminated the Rhome Rhavioli to advance to the Round 3. Melbourne won the final game by a score of 6-4 at Aces Ballpark and took the series 4-2. "We won the series and that's the main thing," Shipley said. "They were a tough team and we didn't want to take anything for granted." For the series, Shipley hit .708 with a .774 on-base percentage. He had 4 home runs, drove in 10 RBI and scored 12 runs. "He was tough to stop and that's a big reason they're there and we're here," said a dejected Rhome manager Danny Curtis. The Melbourne Aces will play against the Cork Claws in the next round.
